When he puts his best foot forward, he hopes it lands flush with a foe's frame.
Or anywhere adequate to produce the desired effect, as one certainly did recently for Bayfield High School alumnus and developing mixed-martial arts amateur fighter Kevin Wirth.
Representing Durango Martial Arts Academy in competition Saturday, July 18, Wirth continued his rise towards professional status with a victory by decision over Jesse Tafoya in Rio Rancho, N.M. He competed in Judgement (sic) MMA & Fitness's 'Judgement Series 4' kickboxing card. The third edition was held March 7.
The action saw Wirth down Tafoya with a second-round foot to the body. Tafoya is a New Mexico fighter who'd scrapped (and won) previously on the "Jackson's MMA Series XV" card, June 6 in Santa Fe.
"I got one more (amateur fight) in a couple weeks," Wirth said online via Facebook message, "and that will be the last one before I turn pro."
