The primary will be the first election in which unaffiliated voters can participate and vote in the primary of their choice - either the Democratic or Republican primary.

Unaffiliated candidates cannot vote in both primaries. Instead, they must choose which party's primary election they wish to vote in. If an unaffiliated voter returns ballots for both the Democratic and Republican primaries, both ballots will be invalidated.
