U.S. has become meaner, uglier, more racist under Trump's presidency

The 4th of July is approaching, and we're a year and a half into "restoring" American greatness. So how's it going? Admittedly, I just can't see that a mentality of victimhood, resentment, and blaming the "other" is any way to greatness. Neither is cozying up to vile dictators and alienating leaders of Western democracies.

What we've gotten instead is a big increase in anti-Semitic, anti-Muslim, anti-immigrant, anti-people of color incidents. We've gotten endemic shameless corruption in the federal Executive Branch, starting from the top down. We've gotten a ruler who demands absolute loyalty to himself, as opposed to the country or the Constitution; and who proclaims himself to be the arbiter of what's constitutional or not.

We've gotten huge increases in the federal debt, thanks to tax cuts for the rich, so congressional Republicans are re-branding social safety net programs for low wage employees as "welfare" - handouts to undeserving deadbeats. We see access to health care becoming a privilege for the more worthy among us.

Now federal thugs rip terrified children from their undocumented immigrant parents and send them who knows where. The door is effectively closed to Central American asylum seekers. The message is, "Stay in your own country and be killed, so we don't have to go to the trouble of sending you home to be killed."

The things we do as individuals or a country become a part of who we are.

What we've become in Trumpamerika is mean, ugly. We desperately need to restore America's GOODNESS and integrity!

I think that's a lot better path to greatness than what we've got now.
