Jill Fischer's fantastical sea quilt is on display at this year's La Plata County Fair.
Emaliah Sawyer, a member of the Bayfield Riders 4-H Club, took a grand champion award in welding for her bench, which also was selected to be sold Saturday night during the livestock auction.

The annual La Plata County Fair filled Durango with livestock, crashing cars, garden produce and live music for another year.

The Fassett family had an exceptionally good fair, with Maryann winning the grandchampion ribbons in market beef and lamb, and reserve grand champion lamb, as well. Her brother, Brock, won the reserve grand champion title in the market beef category.

Heile Pearson of the Ignacio Future Farmers of America raised this year's grand champion market hog, while Kaleb Lee won reserve grand champion for his bantam rooster. He also won his class in Friday's market beef competition.
