According to a Yale University study, 70 percent of U.S. citizens say that global warming is happening, and over half of U.S. citizens agree it is human caused.
Sixty members of the U.S. Congress (30 Republicans and 30 Democrats) have joined the Congressional Climate Solutions Caucus because they know this important issue must be addressed. Despite efforts to prove otherwise, this is not a partisan issue.
Citizens' Climate Lobby (CCL) is an organization which recognizes this and welcomes people of all political perspectives to take action to boost the economy and address the warming planet. CCL advocates a policy named "Carbon Fee and Dividend" endorsed by Republicans and Democrats.
To account for the cost of burning fossil fuels, we propose an initial fee of $15 per ton on the CO2 equivalent emissions of fossil fuels, escalating $10 per ton per year, imposed at the mine, well or port of entry.
All of the net fees from the carbon fee are held in a Carbon Fees Trust fund and returned directly to U.S. households as a monthly dividend.
This is not a tax as funds are disbursed to U.S. citizens.

There is a local chapter of CCL which welcomes all interested or curious people. We meet regularly and sponsor related events.
