Julie Westendorff, La Plata County commissioner, will announce her re-election campaign on Thursday, Feb. 4.
She is holding events in all three towns in the county, starting at 9 a.m. at the Pine River Public Library in Bayfield. At 1 p.m., she'll be at the ELHI Community Center in Ignacio, located at the old Ignacio Elementary School at 287 Shoshone St. Finally, she will finish at 5:30 p.m. at the Rochester Hotel in Durango.
Westendorff was elected in 2012 as commissioner for District 3, which starts in Grandview and encompasses Bayfield, Ignacio, Vallecito and eastern La Plata County.
She previously served as a Bayfield municipal judge, Southern Ute Indian Tribe prosecutor, a small business owner, real estate broker and attorney.
