La Plata County Fair 2014

Jan Bradberry of Dry Creek Dairy in Ignacio feeds her Nigerian Dwarf dairy goat, Thumbelina, a treat before judging takes place at the La Plata County Fair Thursday afternoon.
Haylee Shonk-Olguin participated in the beef section of the round robin livestock showmanship competition on Friday. She is a member of the Ignacio Westerneers. The judges in the showmanship contest are graduates of the local 4-H and FFA programs.
Claire Hufnagel of Bayfield won the grand champion intermediate swine showmanship award, a rare feat for a first-year contestant.
Michael Semler, a graduate of BHS, culminated years of hard 4-H work during his last year of the La Plata County Fair. He took awards for grand champion breeding beef, grand champion senior beef showman, reserve champion overall senior showman, third for market beef heifer, first and third in the market beef competition, and first and fourth in his class in market swine.
No it wasn't a mirror in the livestock barn, just two pigs getting close.
Local quilter Karen Baxter created this log cabin designed-quilt in the two-person category with Marietta Powell of Ignacio.
Isaac Peña of the Ignacio Future Farmers of America won top honors with his welding project for his spurs.
