We would like to thank the generous donors and volunteers for the tremendous support Pine River Shares received during our first year as an independent organization serving the communities of the Pine River Valley. We not only maintained existing programs, we expanded them, and created a few new ones. Check out all we were able to accomplish together:
50-plus adult and youth leaders contributed over 2,700 hours collectively to projects supporting healthy thriving Pine River Valley communities.
Provided nine community dinners and three cookouts.
Packed and distributed 2,300 BK4K (Bayfield Kids for Kids) backpacks of food to Bayfield students in grades K-5.
With the Pine River Garden Club, we awarded five vertical vegetable gardens through our annual Garden Give Away Contest.
200 Pine River Valley preschoolers participated in our six-week series teaching about healthy food we can grow.
Two six-week "Garden to Table Cooking Class" series were held in Arboles and Bayfield.
1,100 weekly food bags were distributed to Pine River Valley food-insecure families.
Provided support to Ignacio youth "Friends with Food" group who implement a student-run pantry in Ignacio High School.
Initiated "documentary+dinner+dialogue" series with the Pine River Library to examine and discuss critical issues impacting our lives.
Provided "Kids in the Wild" at Forest Lakes, a six-week outdoor adventure and food share program for kids and caregivers.
Initiated a social justice leadership training program, offering 40 hours of paid leadership training for Pine River Valley adults and youth.
Initiated the "Pine River Valley Food System work group" to work with communities to develop a vision and implementation plan for a Pine River Valley food system.
Pine River Shares is deeply grateful to all who share with us to ensure that no one goes without. Proving yet again that when we work together so much good is possible. Thank you.
