She's undergoing radiations treatments at Children's Hospital in Denver while still attending classes at Bayfield Middle School.
So that's more than most children her age have to deal with, but Aria Crane is a fighter, and today is her 12th birthday.
She is about one-third completed with her rounds of radiation now, having recently undergone a bone marrow transplant and chemotherapy to treat Stage 4 Hodgkin's lymphoma.
She stays in touch with her classes via a live computer link between BMS and Denver.
Her mom, Wendy, has been staying with her at Brent's Place, a home for pediatric cancer patients near the hospital. To help its residents, Brent's Place is kept virtually free of dander, dust, mold and other infectious agents. Dad Brian Crane continues to work at the Ignacio School District and take care of their family, and they visit Aria as much as they can. Wendy reports her daughter is doing well and they hope to be able to bring her home soon, possibly in November.
Today is her 12th birthday. Friends can write to her at Brent's Place, 11980 E. 16th Ave. Aurora, CO 80010.
